Barack Obama declared his candidacy for President of the United States in Springfield, Illinois on February 10, 2007.
On Tuesday, June 3, 2008, Senator Barack Obama secured enough delegates to become the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party for President of the United States and was elected President of the United States on November 4, 2008.
